Legend, lore, love, and magic. Transformational tales of shapeshifters, ghosts, faeries, and more, for a mature audience.
Dani Harper is a former newspaper editor whose passion for all things supernatural led her to a second career writing paranormal fantasy. There isn’t anything she likes better than exploring myths and legends from many cultures, which serve to inspire her sizzling and suspenseful stories. A longtime resident of the Canadian north and southeastern Alaska, she now lives in rural Washington with her retired mountain-man husband.
Harper’s first foray into fiction began with a series of successful wolf-shifter novels: CHANGELING MOON (2012 RITA finalist), CHANGELING DREAM, and CHANGELING DAWN. A darker werewolf tale bordering on urban fantasy followed: FIRST BITE.
More recently she’s been bringing ancient faery legends into modern-day America with The Grim Series (STORM WARRIOR, a top ten pick by PUBLISHERS WEEKLY, STORM BOUND, STORM WARNED, and in 2017, STORM CROSSED)
Harper’s latest release is a PNR for those who love a ghost story with a twist: THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT.

QUICK FUN FACTS ABOUT DANI HARPER:
Favorite Authors – It’s so HARD to narrow it down, especially when I discover new ones all the time, like Rachel Caine, Adrienne Wilder, Linda Poitevin, C.S. Anderson, and Maggie Stiefvater. My “Automatic Buy” list includes Jeaniene Frost, JR Ward, Jim Butcher, Karen Chance, Karen Marie Moning, Patricia Briggs, Kevin Hearne, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Cherie Priest (and, sadly for my budget, many many more!)
Favorite current TV Shows – Supernatural, Lucifer, Stranger Things, The Magicians, Sleepy Hollow, Sherlock, Outlander, and just for silliness, Big Bang Theory
Favorite vintage TV Shows – Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, True Blood
Favorite DVDs – The Avengers (plus ALL Thor, Ironman, and Captain America flicks), Batman movies with Christian Bale, Odd Thomas, The Lost Boys, Van Helsing, The Wolfman (2010), Serenity, Hellboy I and II. I should also mention that I have a weakness for animated flicks, so my collection includes Despicable Me I and II, The Secret Life of Pets, Hotel Transylvania, Megamind, How to Train Your Dragon, etc.
Favorite Food – Coffee (hey, I consider it a food group!)
Favorite Dessert – Any kind of fruit pie, especially rhubarb or peach. (HA! You thought I was going to say chocolate! While I truly love chocolate, especially the dark stuff, I’ll choose a fruit pie over it any day. Not too sweet. And I’ll have that pie with COFFEE too!)
Dark or Milk Chocolate – The darker, the better! And again, not too sweet.
Favorite Flowers – I have a soft spot for irises, poppies of all kinds, and also for rudbeckia (black-eyed susans)
Hobbies and passions – Gardening, raising chickens, painting, sewing, swimming
Dogs or cats? – I think cats are living art, but I’m allergic to them. I compensate with a pug, Toby, and a pitbull-boxer mix named Tux (see them on this site under “Fun Stuff”)
Pet Peeves – Telemarketers, and packages I can’t open without a chainsaw.
Secret Celebrity Crushes – Benedict Cumberbatch is topping the list at present! Others, in no particular order, Chris Hemsworth, Benicio del Toro, Jensen Ackles, Robert Downey Junior, Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Dwayne Johnson, Will Smith…
Favorite Destination – Barra de Navidad in Jalisco on the Pacific coast of Mexico. This is my very FAVORITE vacation photo – it’s part of the malecón, or pier, a walkway dividing the calm harbor from the waves of the open ocean. Hubs and I enjoyed walking along it at dawn, and visiting with the fishermen. Barra was also a really great place to write — I worked on STORM WARRIOR, the first book of the Grim Series, in a number of sidewalk cafes there.
