2019 PRISM Award WINNER

2019 PRISM Award WINNER

Organizers of the 2019 Prism Awards Contest for published fantasy, futuristic, and paranormal romance announced the finalists in 10 categories in July.

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was to see Storm Crossed named as one of the 3 finalists in Urban Fantasy! But it was nothing compared to the feelings that overwhelmed me TODAY (Sept 30) when I found out that my novel had WON!

Many thanks to the organizers and judges of this event — it’s a ton of work to put together a writing competition, particularly one as well-known as this one.

The national competition is hosted by FF&P – the Fantasy, Futuristic, and Paranormal chapter of Romance Writers of America.

Award of Merit: Storm Crossed

Award of Merit: Storm Crossed

Really pleased that STORM CROSSED received an Award of Merit as a Finalist for the HOLT Medallion this year. HOLT stands for Honoring Outstanding Literary Talent, and has been awarded annually since 1995.

Congratulations to the winners, and many thanks to the organizers and judges.

Just found the certificate in my mailbox last night and had a few moments of panic: someone had folded the envelope in half so it would fit in the tiny crowded box! EEEEK! Fortunately I own a LOT of heavy books, so the certificate was persuaded to flatten out enough for a photo.

2019 Golden Quill Winner: Storm Crossed

I confess, when I read the congratulatory email, I screamed and scared both my hubs and my dogs!!! And then I shook like a leaf for the next couple of hours. My wonderful hubs promptly went “to get the mail” and came back with a bouquet of flowers. (No wonder I write romance, LOL)

Storm Crossed (Book 4 of the Grim Series) is the winner of the 2019 Golden Quill Award in the Fantasy category. The annual contest is sponsored by the Desert Rose Chapter of the RWA.  .

I am SO thankful for the encouragement of family, friends, and fellow authors, plus the support of my agent and my Montlake publishing team.  Most of all I’m grateful to my readers – you’re the reason I write!

UPDATE: Storm Crossed wins Second Place in Wisconsin

Good stuff in the morning mail! In addition to the usual windowed envelopes, there was a certificate from the Write Touch Readers Award contest. Storm Crossed, Book 4 of the Grim series, won 2nd place in the “Mainstream Fiction with a Central Romance” category.

Many thanks to the Wisconsin chapter of Romance Writers of America for hosting the contest, and to the organizers and judges for all the time and work they put into it.

Dani Harper is best known for her urban fantasy novels, particularly those featuring werewolves. Her novels balance suspenseful and complex plot development with attention to character and relationship development. Both protagonists and secondary characters are well-delineated, as are their relationships with one another.

Harper’s characters work to overcome well-described challenges of both mythical and real-world varieties, and the mythical often are instructive in thinking about serious questions of the real-world kind. Her settings, such as small-town rural Canada, are clearly-evoked and well-integrated into the dramatic action of her stories and the mythical world she builds.
