A List of Locations
Beddgelert – historic town in the Snowdonia Mountains, Wales, where Caris Dillwyn grew up.
Black Marsh – a marsh close by the stone stables of the Wild Hunt at the base of the mountain that forms the foundation of the Queen’s Palace. Fae horses are fond of wading through the dark water to graze on the tussocks of serpent grass.
Black Mountains – a range of immense hills across southeastern Wales . Waun Fach is the highest mountain in the group at 2661 feet
Catemaco – a charming city in Mexico, renowned as a center of magic and witchcraft. Lissy’s mother was born there.
Coedwig Swamp – a marsh in the faery realm infested with bwganod. A popular place to dispose of bodies…
Dinas Dwr – “city of water” – the fae name for Walla Walla in Washington State. (See entry for Walla Walla)
Handcastings – a shop owned by practicing witch Brooke Halloran, specializing in herbs and crystals, tarot readings, and healing energies and spells.
Holyhead Mountain – a seaside hill whose sheer rock walls flank Anglesey Island in Wales. The mountain extends deep into the faery realm, where it is called Mynedfa.
Lake o’ Loes – a dangerous body of water in the faery realm where venomous creatures lurk
Nine Realms – the kingdoms that make up the faery world that exists far below the Black Mountains of Wales.
Palouse Falls – a waterfall in a state park in eastern Washington State.
Silver Maple Forest – The name of a vast and dangerous forest of spectacularly large trees in the fae world
Spokane Valley – a city in eastern Washington State
Steptoe Acres – the organic farm where Liam Cole grew up with his Aunt Ruby and Uncle Connell. Named for nearby Steptoe Butte, the farm is located south of Spokane Valley, on Hangman Creek, in eastern Washington.
Steptoe Butte – an unusual topographical feature in eastern Washington State in the middle of the Palouse Hills. At first glance, it appears to be a tall conical hill with a relatively small flattened top and festooned with clusters of communications towers. However, it is a state park because of its important geographical and historical significance. The Butte is not to be confused with a small town named after it. Steptoe Butte is important to the faery realm because it forms one end of their largest portal. (see Great Way)
The Great Way – literally a passageway between the fae realms in Wales and the new fae colony in America. The entrance to the former begins at Holyhead mountain in Angsley, while the latter is at Steptoe Butte in eastern Washington State. The Great Way literally bridges dimensions as well as distance. There are countless smaller ones throughout the fae world, leading to many places, but the Great Way is the longest and largest.
Tir Hardd – a territory secured by King Arthfael during his lifetime. The name means “Beautiful Land”, and it is located far beneath the human world between the Cascade Mountains and the Blue Mountains of eastern Washington State. It lay undeveloped until Queen Gwenidw saw the need for new lands for her numerous peoples. It is now newly settled, with more colonists arriving all the time from the Nine Realms of Wales.
Wales – a country in southwest Great Britain. Part of the UK. Known as Cymru by the Welsh, it has a rich history of faery folklore.
Walla Walla – a city in eastern Washington State. The name dates back to the Lewis and Clarke expedition, and means “many waters” in the language of a Native American tribe. In the summer, its Mediterranean-type climate makes it an excellent location for wineries. The fae have their own name for Walla Walla: Dinas Dwr – the city of water.
